  • 45k service due on MK5 Jetta DSi

    Hi,

I have the 45k service coming up shortly on my MK5 Jetta DSi with DSG.

Have always serviced the car at Barloworld (Springvale Road).

    Cost for required works are:
    45k service - $390
$269.75 rear brake pads parts and labour

Anyone else have pricing for same service at other authorised servicing dealerships.

NB: If I book far enough in advance I do get a loan car at no cost - just have top pay for the fuel.

    Thanks,
    GeoffP.

      Servicng

I wouldn't get any work done at barloworld. They are expensive and their quality leaves a lot ot be desired. Had a car serviced there a few years ago and have never been back what a mess cost me heaps to get it fixed properly.

A post full of unsubstantiated sweeping statements bashing a dealer.

          Not good enough.

I had my 15,000k service there a month or two ago. Price was perfectly reasonable, the quality of the work - well, who can stuff an oil change? - the car was washed and vacuumed, and I had a MKVI golf diesel DSG as a loaner for the day. They didn't ask me to put fuel into it.

The pricing for the above work seems reasonable. Naturally, it could be done cheaper by a smaller specialist, and even cheaper by a backyarder.

I've had some warranty work done at Barloworld GW for my Polo GTI which they completed promptly. Communication was good. Barloworld is just round the corner for me so it is the most convienent option.

Also had a service at Barloworld GW for the POLO done. Cost around $300. They are okay I think.

Maybe get a few quotes from dealers or VW specialsists if you are wanted the best price.

Won't be getting the R serviced at a dealer though as as its a bit older and more specialised. I'll probably try Volkwerke or Volkspower. I might need to take out a loan for its 80k service. But its all worth it in the end.

i am having our polo GTI and Jetta serviced end of this week.. both due for 45000k service.
not at a dealership but specialist mechanic that i have been going to for years.
will post up what they cost.

I had my 45000km service done on the Jetta recently for less than that.
Call Paul at Camberwell VW,and tell him you are a freind of mine...he is a top guy,and will look after you like a champ.
Used to look after my previous Astra too at Summit Holden...small world hey,we both moved up.

                    Talk about good timing.

Just received a "Loyalty Discount" letter in the mail from Barloworld, Springvale Road.

I will get a flat 15% discount off the scheduled servicing.

That would bring my costs down to:
                    45k service: $390 - 15% discount = $331.50
$269.75 rear brake pads parts and labour

Total of $601.25 which is pretty good I think (after adding the 15% discount).

I will try for 15% on the brake works as well - you never know.........

I would probably get a second opinion on the rear pads before anything else. I've never replaced them that early on.
