  • Left side interior rattle in MKV R32...

    Hi all,

I have a rattle on the LEFT side of the car going over a medium-hard bump, it sounds like the B pillar, or C pillar, but the dealer reckons it wasnt - said it was something loose in the trunk? They tightened the thing in the trunk, but its still there and is really annoying me...

I have been doing a bit of searching in these forums looking for a list of known rattles/vibrations common to the MKV, specifically the R32? I could not find any - does one such list exist? Or can someone help me with my problem? I recently took delivery of my R and have had a few rattles - annoying, some have been sorted by the dealer, and even Northfield did some sound deadening, but theyre still there.

    1. Centre dash air vent (I have read about this alot though) - Northfield sorted it when installing Fiscon bluetooth
    2. door speakers (front) tend to cause a severe vibration on mid-hard bass notes. Dealer did some, Northfield then did Dynamat, but its STILL there, not as severe though... getting it checked by northfield very soon.

Any help with left side vibration? Thanks in advance

some people have had problems with tail lights developing a rattle as well I think. Might be one worth checking.

Could it be the seat belt buckle hitting the B pillar?

My R32 had a squeak noise going over bumps towards the rear left - found it was the back seat causing the noise where it locks onto the bolts when folding up....it was locked it but basically opened and slammed it shut HARD - all fixed I could re-create it also when it was making the noise by pushing backwards and forwards quite hard on the rear seat....hopefully this is ur issue, have also heard of rattles from the rear lights in the R32 also.

I've got a rattle in my pirelli that I thought was the B pillar.
... but it is the sunglasses holder.

May also be the rear shelf or the rubber balls. Remove shelf for a trial?

When I first got my R32 I had an annoying rattle from the driver's side... Thought it was the B pillar, then thought it was the window controls on the door or maybe air vent near the window.

In the end, I found that it disappeared when I pushed against the rear part of the driver's door with my hand - not exactly a solution to the problem though. A massively frustrated elbowing of the door actually ended up fixing the rattle though by popping a loose clip in! Hasn't come back since.

I have a rattle that seems to come from the left rear side too. I am still trying to isolate where the rattle is. Although the rattle doesn't seem to be consistent - sometimes over Melbourne's bad roads, I will hear it. But I won't necessarily hear it when I go over bumps... go figure.

I have this one too. I noticed that, by pushing my elbow against the window, the rattle goes away. Jausho, how did you pop in a loose clip? Also, what kind of clip are you talking about?

Mine wasn't by pushing against the window... It was by pushing against the rear most part of the door trim. I just popped in the loose clip by hitting that part of the trim really hard with my elbow.

Here's a pic taken from a door trim removal DIY that shows the 6 pop in clips (they pop into the door frame) that are on the edges of the door.... In this pic, the rear of the door trim is on the left. The clip that would've been loose on mine would've either have been the top of middle rear one.

mate, don't bother. just turn the stereo up. i've tried fixing rattles - you fix one, another two come up. trust me i know how annoying it is (got about 5-6 rattles in total ) but that just adds to the character or i'd like to think so
