When I put it in sport mode, and I press on the brake and then if I proceed to step on the gas, the car seems to be trying to get off the line, but my brakes are holding it down...

I figure if I pushed the throttle to anywhere near the 3000 rpm range, I'd be damaging my engine or drivetrain... =[

For all those Launch control enabled V-dubs out there, how does it feel when you press the brake and gas at the same time? Does the car just feel like it's revving in neutral?
You're forgetting to disable the EPS....

Brake > Sports mode > Disable EPS > Plant the foot > Release the brake > wheel spin > speed > put jap import to shame > get pulled over by a copper > get fined > get angry > pay fine > Repeat.

Okay.. lol, I'd tried it but just not in that order... ie. sport mode, disable EPS, then brake and gas...

Didn't know there was a specific order you had to do to get launch Control.

        Thanks mate!

I have an MY06 with launch control.

Just went stage 2+ and yes it is a rocket...and now it sounds like one too =)

...now for stage III and serious traction issues

Stage 2 is probably as far as I'd take a FWD such as the Jetta I've got.

Any more than that, and you'll just disappoint like the APR GTI in the Motor Mag Showcase =P

Nevertheless, I'd like to see what your ride can do on the streets my friend!

Jetta is WAY cheaper than Golf to buy.... so there are some awesome deals out there.

You get such good value if you are willing to lose the hatch.

As far as launch control goes, on my GT you take ESP off and then make sure you are either in manual or sport mode.

Foot VERY hard on brake, Then floor the accelerator and in my car it holds revs at about 3700 and makes a pulsing noise as it robotically blips the throttle to keep revs at same spot. Bup Bup Bup Bup Bup..

Release brake and keep foot flat and watch first and second go up in smoke and also hear your supercharger whine... or for the TDI's the harvesting blades go round and round.

Many vehicles suffer from over design - especially the japanese brands.

I love the Jetta interior. It's not fussy or complicated yet it has and does everything I need it to.

                            Simple, understated, functional STYLE!

Defs, although sometimes I wish I had bought a Golf GT Diesel. Purely for the speed..

Over-design and Corolla will never be in the same sentance other than this one haha

With all due respect, it's also to save costs.

By saving $$$ on the interior plastics and layout, they could throw in a DSG and a beaut of an engine in the 2.0 TFSI and still be able to compete with the Liberties, and the Accord Euros...

To me, it was a sacrifice worth taking, and now I'm greatful, because the performance of the engine is better than anything I've ever owned. Pleasure to drive.
