  • Wiper resevoir... no warning?

    Hi all,

Just had to fill my wiper resovoir with water & two capfills of VW magic fluid but had no warning at all that it was about to run out.

The owners manual states that I should have had a warning before this occurred is this normal or is this a downgrade as I have on '07 spec car?
Has anybody ever had a warning B4?

Do not want to scratch my windsceen and always counted on this feature!

    cheers ferg

Yeah my mate was reading my manual and he asked about it.. NO SUCH luck when i ran out of water. Also there when i ran a flat tyre there apparently is a thing which warns you of low tyre pressure.. DIDNT HAPPEN. obviously not on mine... (06 sportline golf)

      Other things not set up

gtimk5 and I were looking at my TDI yesterday and finding similar things to those that you guys are mentioning. We came to the conclusion that the computer wasn't programmed to my specs when I picked the car up from the stealer. The salesman at no time mentioned to me the programming options available and it wasn't until I read forum posts and talked to Andrew that I realised that they should have been set up on delivery. Apparently the stealers charge you for setting them if you go back. I have to have the radio/flat battery recall sorted on my TDI and while I'm there there's gonna be a bunfight!

But don't you love the smell of the washer fluid?

How many programming options are there? It would be great to know what could/should be asked for when purchasing the car, ie: if this forum could generate a list?

Are the options described throughout the manual?

Just found this (as a start)...

        1. One click - all doors open.
        2. If car unlocked - Hold down close/open button and all windows close and car locks.
        3. If car locked - Hold down close/open button and all windows open and car unlocks
        3. Auto lock after 20 kmh. Again got kids.
        4. Auto open when doors locked and key removed from ignition
        5. No horn to sound when lock car.
        6. No horn to sound when unlock car.
        7. Courtesy head lights set time to 20 seconds
There may be others but I think tese are the main ones?

I thought the tyre pressure monitoring system was only on GTIs for Australia??? Anyway, if you car has the functionality there will be a TPMS button on your centre console just behind your ashtray & gear stick.

Nope, count the Jetta in for that function...it works too. If you check your tyres at the garage using the "set to 36psi auto pump" and forget to reset the thing - it will squeel when the tyres heat up.

I was heading off to Bris, ex Syd, checked the 5 tyres, didn't think to reset the thing. 0330 - set off the next morning, got all warmed up 10km down the road...BING...you have a flat....GRRRR great way to start the trip...alas..it was only the sensor.

I have reset the tyre pressures on my GTI a few times by as little as 3lbs. and had the warning go off down the road. I have also destoyed 2 tyres on out Tassie roads and the warning has alerted me welkl before the loss of pressure was noticible looking at the tyre.
I spose the normal check over of your vehicle includes topping up your washer fluid rather than waiting for the warning to appear?
My old Mk4 one alerted me once for low level when I was slack in not topping it up.
                  Cheers, Andrew

Wiper resevoir indicator not installed on 07 Jetta's

                    Hi all,

had the Jetta in to the dealers to get a faulty window motor replaced, whilst there I asked them to check why there was no resevoir warning. I was told "the resevoir warning was not installed on this vehicle".

So it seems that an '07 spec car no longer has this facility, hardware rather than software Brackie... shame, cos as gtimkv said check it regularly sounds good...... only trouble is it is a little hard to see as the bulk of the tank is out of view!

Anybody got this feature that works on their car... maybe it is only on USA versions?

On a more positive note my tyre pressure warning sytems works fine ignore it at your peril!

                    cheers Ferg

The Oz spec Jetta V does not have the low washer sensor fitted from the factory. The warning can be enabled using VAG-COM or the VAS 5052 but it just goes off all the time due to the fact that the sensor is not fitted to the washer bottle.

                        And they're called 'dealers'....Not 'stealers'....

....Comming from someone that's a VW service manager.

The are definitely 'stealers', no doubt about that; but is there anywhere in Oz (online) or in Sydney where you can pickup a VAG-COM and how much is it roughly?

Guy H is the importer I believe, the software is free but the cable costs you instead.

                            ross-tech.com

I have a genuine one which is far superior to the cheapy ones on ebay. The functionality of the software on the genuine cables is way above the "shareware style" that works with the cheapies.

I think my cable was $300 US, I'll have it at nationals if you or anyone else wants scanning.

Welcome to the forum Flu!d. Hope you enjoy your stay. What do you drive? WHich state are you located in?

I know calling dealers stealers may seem a little harsh but in general that is the rep that they have gotten themselves. Having said that the dealer i went to in Brisbane was fantastic and i wouldnt be calling them stealers. Having said that its not just VW people who call them that either. Every forum ive been on (quite alot) have the same name for them.
