They need to improve the alternative fuel options first before I go that way.

Umm with the new batteries you can recharge in like half an hour for a 60-70% charge on a Tesla roadster.

Alternative fuel just means you carry an extension cord and plug into any outside plugs you find in your neighbourhood!

Tesla is planning refill stations in USA where you just drive over a bay and it swaps your empty battery for a full one and charges u a fee.

I bought my Jetta from Dermot and Shane at Wangara and they were great to deal with.

My first 15k service is due soon so hopefully that plug gives me a good deal

Good to see a Perth Dealer without his head squarely up his arse and being an active forum member - props and welcome...if only the other dealers were as smart as yourself!

John Hughes was a bad experience for me...if you have to go there, DO NOT deal with the muppet with his office closest to the car park doors - he is a FOOL to say the least...does not know his product!

Yeah if one dealership had R loan cars or even just LOAN CARS! the other dealers would have tumbleweeds blowing through their service bays.

I agree that you should keep your options open for eastern states dealers. I just bought a R36 from JH. You can get mixed service from them, depending on the sales person. JH was actually my most expensive option, but decided to go with them cos OP p*ssed me off so much. Dealers from eastern states was a few k cheaper, but didn't go that option cos I had a trade-in. I called Wangara, but they said the R36 was not available on the drive-away deal... which was different to everywhere else in the country.

I would never go back to OP again. The sales manager is a complete idiot. He showed me the standard price list... then wrote the price down on a piece of paper which was $2000 more! I pointed it out... and he chuckled and said "just trying to get a few for thousand out of you!" WTF?!!

He actually hung the phone up on me when I first dealt with him, after one of his sales staff made a mistake on an order. He stated that he had the last R36 in Australia and there was no chance I would be able to get one!!! Of course he was more obliged to try to sell the car to me when I called back and complained to his manager...

                  Hey mate..

not sure if it's the same dude I was dealing with, as it was almost a year ago for me now - but I was dealing with Ian, in that same office, and I reckon he was a terrific bloke. The new car manager also went the extra mile to help me out and make the delivery experience all that much more special.

My car was a pretty special one, so that might have been the difference, but I'd give those 2 guys the star award for the best guys I've ever dealt with when it comes to buying a new car (and you guys gotta believe me when I tell ya, you wouldn't believe how many new cars I've bought).

Sure I paid RRP (and considering what I got it's not too surprising), and I agree Ian wasn't 100% on all the facts (he's an old school VW man, been in it for 30 years) - but where it does count, reliability and integrity, I couldn't have asked for more. In fact I think he knew/remembered more about the 1983 Pirelli than the new one I bought!... Never mind, all he needed to know was how to get me into a new yellow one.

I'm not a JH fanboy by any stretch of the imagination (the guys over the road in the Mitsu section and Second Hand yard were a very different story) - but I couldn't fault the experience I had when buying the Pirelli.

When it comes to buying a new car, you can't generally fault the organisation (at least most), only the benders who end up serving you.

Man I could tell you guys some stories about bad experiences with dealers.. The game is definitely much more honest and ethical than it was 20 years ago.

For what it's worth, I had a pretty bad experience dealing with Osb Park too, but the guy might have just been having a bad day.

I think JH just decide who they want to take seruously, when i was looking at Polo GTI's (was 18 at the time) it took me 20 minutes to be asked if i needed help in an empty showroom. And from there it was stonewalling, no test drive, no movement on prices nothing.

Comparably at OP took only 2 minutes or so for the salesperson to approach me, then offer a test drive and discuss prices reasonably.

Yeah could be... I didn't have high expectations/requirements when I bought the relli... I wasn't offered a test drive in one, but I didn't really care - I pretty much walked in and told them to get me one.

I tried my best to haggle, but they weren't having any of it.... I wasn't in much of a position to bargain though, as there were so few left at the time (3 I was told).... Could have been BS, but I've yet to see any other 5 dr yellows driving around...
