FWIW I invested in a decent 12v minicompressor to keep all the pressures within specs.

When you think of the potential damage you could do to yourself, other people, your car, or just the uneven tyre wear, the expense is negligible. I always ignore the reading on the cheap guage on the compressor and use my other pressure guage when i'm setting the pressures.

Always check the pressures when the tyres are cold - ideally before driving the car. Once you get to a service station (unless its VERY close to home) your tyre pressures will no longer read accurately due to the tyres heating up.

Well at least this ended happily....Now what do you all think it means when the tyre pressure light DOESNT go off.......?
Filled all 4 tyres with air to correct pressure, hit the button and it wont go off..

For the vag com users, what should i be looking at in VCDS?
      Thanks in advance.....

You dont need to be driving at all.
Just turn the key to accessories, and then hold the button until it chimes.

Then how does the abs tone rings check wheel speed?

If I am not mistaken, it goes into a 'learning mode' for a period of time which it uses as a base. I am pretty sure in my car (Polo GTI), I have always reset it whilst it was stationary with no problems.

On the R32 you have to be driving in my experience.
As you drive you hold button down, it then dings after it has read the abs signals.

It was definitely reset while stationary in our MKV R32.

Hold down the button for 4-5 seconds or so until you hear it ding, this process would be a bit of a distraction while driving.

The reason why you have to hold it down for ~5 seconds is to avoid it accidentally being reset. It can take up to 10 km's for the system to learn if you're not driving in a straight line, it doesn't just take a reading based on a few rotations but collects data over a period of time.

I've just updated my TPMS page to cover new developments and show why the Indirect TPMS can't detect loss reliably under 25%.
