Hi all,

I am wanting to upgrade my 08 r32 mp3 unit to a mfd2 sat nav (pre RNS510). Anyone has this unit and can you play music while its on nav mode.

Since you'll be upgrading from a standard head unit to the MFD2, you won't have the CD changer in the arm rest... Unless you retrofit this CD stacker, you won't be able to play CD's while using the navigation component of the MFD2 since the NAV disc occupies the single CD drive on the unit. You'll still be able to play CD's at all other times though.

What you can do to get around that though is either listen to the radio while the Nav's working, or install an Aux-Input like this one to listen through any audio source you want that has a 3.5mm jack for output: http://web475.server-drome.net/nam/j...ndex.php?a=209

I don't have a Golf, however in the Passat I have a 6 disc Stacker in the Glovebox. The Head Unit is a single disc DVD Rom. You can plays DVD's (with module) or have the Nav Disc in permanatley. I listen to CD's, Radio all the time with no issues whilst in Nav Mode. It also displays in the full length MFD. Works really well actually!

Have you thought of an after market Head unit with Nav, DVD, etc etc ?
