  • Evolve Technik GTI Tune

    Hey Guys,

I just bought a brand new tornado red 5dr GTI last weekend at Burwin Volkswagen, and I am VERY EXCITED at taking delivery of it this Saturday!!

I was looking at all the various chipping options and I was wondering if anyone has gotten any work done with Evolve Technik? I have seen their name around and I have checked their site and they offer a mod for GTI's with considerable increases. Does anyone know how these guys compare to the other game players? (GIAC/APR/Bluefin etc).

I talked to Neil this evening on the phone at Evolve Technik and they offered some decent insights into their product, but I was wondering if anyone had any hands down experience with them?

    Thanks
    James

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to start trouble for my first REAL post.

It's not like I started a thread asking whats better between GIAC and APR, I have checked Google with limited results about these guys, so I thought I would start something about them.

There isn't a problem at all mate, just some people like taking a dig at eachother for the sake of it that all

I remember there was another member on here who recently had their MK5 done as well, anyone else care to share their experiences on the Evolve tune?

in my opinion, if you find very little information on something obviously to whom you are finding good information on i would suggest going with them

GIB-8 posted a thread after having is R32 remapped by these guys, he was very happy with the results, hopefully this is a link to the thread http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...hlight=technik. Otherwise just use the search, I think the thread is tittled something like '160 kw at the wheels'.

I gave these guys a call and it sounded very interesting, however for me price is a big factor at the moment so I'll probably choose one of the others as I've just spent-up on a new stereo head unit.

I spoke with Neil when i was in the market. He was extremly helpful and informative.

My only convern was that Neil explained they had to remove my ECU to place the software on?

After further research i decided to go the route of a "tried & tested" brand that is commonly used worldwide.

One of many links available on this site alone.

I too spoke with Neil, very informative.
However I too chose to go elsewhere, only due to location.

I believe that his tune should perform just as well as the other majors available.

              Just my 2 cents.

the guys down at evolve are fantastic, very persistent and patient when dealing with me, as I myself was stuck between the tuning companies.

However in the end, i did choose evolve down to the fact, that they are not in the business to see if they can get the most power out of a car (Unlike others), When tuning companies do this, you are compromising other components of the car (Gearbox, ECU, Warranties, etc) So this is what evolve takes into account when tuning a car to its capabilities.

Have a read of the current motor magazine Tuners Challenge and it gives you an insight to how the tuners go about their business. Considering they took out both outright and bang for your buck victories, I would say this company must be doing something right.

(BTW, the ecu does not have to be taken out for most cars, including the R32)

                my 2cents anyways

I'm pretty sure that VWA are of the view that ALL remaps potentially compromise the factory warranty (part of the reason for the saying "If you want to play, you must be prepared to pay") ie if something breaks on the engine or drivetrain that could be blamed on the remap (more power, more torque, more thermal load, less safety factor for boost, timing, AFR, etc) then they are less likely to approve a claim for a fix under VWA warranty.

Thats the funniest thing ive ever read.
If they werent interested in making power for a car, they wouldnt make a remap of a car's ecu program.

As said above, any modification you do to your car will add to wear and tear. Political replies in a magazine to make out you aren't doing what the others are doing is called marketing im sorry.

Not having a go at you, but being realistic. You get a REMAP because you want MORE power not because you want it to be weaker and have a longer life lol.

Go with what works with you...

                      reflash / Custom code

i had h100vw reflash my polo GTI i found the price initially to be cheaper than the rest . When h100vw came down to my house i was impressed with his knowledge of the VW's to be outstanding. Performance is bang for buck. He is in adelaide but i'm sure he could hook you up if not himself he would have some preferred tuners.

Definitely changes the power / torque curve. I'm still in the honeymoon period so i don't know if it's better fuel economy but i can say the economy is excellent 9.5L/100 ( up through the hills) . 6.5L/100 when going to work
