So how much does a "ride" in that cost?

I actually quite like it.. I've be thinking about putting some blue cellophane over the footwell lights for sometime now. Especially the Touareg's coz they stay on all the time

Just get the blue version of my red lights. The light is super strong and all one colour unlike bulbs which are brighter and darker shades of a colour.

They would look very trick if you had them running all the time in a classy type of way.

I chose red because at night it makes the car hard to see into but inside you have great vision and can see what you need to do.

Plus it looks like a portal to hell, its so bright red.

So they still provide enough light without having to use a mini maglite?

PS Speaking of Hell.. I just noticed your passenger seatbelt's done up.. Freakyyyy

Personally I feel it's a tad over the top but good on you for doing it all.

How hard was the setup of it all?

I do like the red coming from near the pedals, though. I was looking at getting something similar myself. What sort of bulb did you use there?

I'd probably go with blue, just cos I think blue lighting on a black Jetta would look nice

I have now wired in a a switch that connects a 12v power supply to the B7 wire under the dash (The black B plug in the wiring harness and position 7, pink/red wire I think) It does the power to the interior footwells.

So now I can manually put them on and drive around with a red glow at my feet which somehow makes the interior seem more expensive at night as all the buttons and the dash are red too.

The red light is better for looking at stuff while you drive at night as it does not kill your night vision or light you up so people can see in.

PLUS the lights still come on and go off as normal if the switch is off. They also automatically go off even if the switch is left on when the car is locked.

Okay, see that's what I want!! lol, for the lights to stay on even if the car has been started! Cos the factory yellow globe goes out once the car's started and the interior lights dim.

Is this manual switch workaround a tough thing to do? Also is there a specific size globe that you need for the footwells? I'd love it if you could put up a quick walkthrough (with pics if at all possible) of how u did ur interior... obviously don't do it, if you don't have the time.

If I'm gonna do some blue globes, maybe I could do the reading globes up top too, but just to a more subtle blue (i'm thinking the bluish-white light that you get from the shnazzy bi-xenons)

                        What do you think?

to wire up the footwells on a switch.

Buy a switch.. solder one end of it to a wire that goes to a fuse connector and just plug that into the fuse box on drivers side near door hinge.

Then run the power wire coming out of other side of the switch to the B connector under the dash , position 7. There will be 1 wire on its lonesome in the corner of B connector and a whole bunch on other end of B conectior. The one by itself is the footwell lights.

You can test this using a power testier... stick it in the holes until u find the wire that lights up when footwells do and goes out when they do.

Then just connect the wire from the switch to this one.

                          Bingo.

Make sure your power source in the fuse area is one that only has power when ignition is on... some of htem there are on all the time.
