  • auto close sunroof

i accidentally left my sunroof open yesterday in my jetta.
it rained during the day and when i went to the car the sunroof was still open.
I was under the impression that the sunroof will automatically close in the event of rain??
I have searched elsewhere and found that others believe this function exists from standard.

I leave my wipers on auto all the time so why didn't it work?

I think this has to be enabled via a vagcom change.
But you need rain sensors on your vehicle for it to work.

As Bazzle pointed out it's not enabled by default. It's not an offered option on the vehicle in Australia and can be enabled because VW use modules from higher end vehicles without disabling extra features.

Details below on how to do it.

            thanks all for the replies....

sage.... yes if you are at the car and want to close the sunroof without getting back into the car etc... you can hold the remote lock button and everything closes..
knew about that one just thought that when it sensed rain and i wasn't around it would automatically close the sunroof on its own.

will see if i can get it changed at my next service.

              Good luck with the dealer
They are normally not aware of this feature and will look at you strange
Find someone in your area with a VCDS (Vagcom) etc and read the links posted above.

It's very very unlikely your dealer will do this for you as it's not supported and they won't want to be responsible if it doesn't work and you decide to sue them because you left the roof open and your car flooded.

dont use a dealer for servicing...

i know its my fault if i leave the sunroof open... i normally don't but on this occasion i forgot to check if it was open as i was running late for work and it rained.
