  • 5th Dimension Package with Window Tinting ($ 1495)

    Dear friends,
I have been offered to have the paint protection / window tinting option called the 5th dimension from Motor One with my new Jetta 118TSI. It is due to be delivered in November. The cost of this package is $ 1495. The items included in the package are briefly described below.

    ================================================
Here is a short summery of the warranties for you to read:-

Leather & Vinyl dicolourment of treated surfaces from commonly consumed liquids or foods, cracking, splitting and fading. should any surfaces permanently stain fifth Dimension will clean, repair or replace (at its option) the damaged section and re-apply the treatment - provided you follow simple stain removal instructions.

Paint : Fading, oxidisation and damage caused by bug splatter, bat & bird droppings tree sap and other aggressive and damaging chemicals. No Yearly inspections of the paint work all we ask you is wash your car with soap and water once a month and that you never wax or polish the vehicle.

Fabric & Carpet : All staining from oil, water and dirt based foods or liquids. If surfaces should become permanently stained 5th Dimension will clean, repair or replace stained surfaces and re-apply the treatment.

Window Tinting Film : Bubbling, Cracking, fading, warping & peeling. If this does happen we will replace the damage window film.

Normally the package is $1795.00 without the complimentary tint valued at 545.00. Until the 30th of June the complete package is $1495.00 inc of all your government chargers this is a saving of $845.00.

The Tint we provide is shatter resistant, blocks 99.7% of UV rays, reflects 60% of heat and glare entering the vehicle..
    ==============================================

I am not too much into cars and never purchased a new vehicle before, so I need your guidance.

1 - Has anyone else used this package before?
2 - My advise on the forum so far is that this is a rip off and I don't need it.
3 - How can I get the same items but for better price / value?

Can you please share your opinions, experiences?

    Thank you.

        Just a money grab dude..

If you're worried about the interior.. Scotch Guard is as good as anything.. And that's A LOT cheaper that than "interior protection" crap.

If I had any money, I would bet that the car cleaning enthusiasts on this forum alone could all individually do a better job of protecting your car. It's really not worth it

Get your tint done somewhere else too. You can choose what tint you want, and if you go by a mate's recommendation or something you're bound to be happy with the results.

The ming mole is trying to scam you, tell them to bugger off back into their hole. This is where the dealer makes a heap of margin (>80%).

Use a good quality leather cleaner/conditioner a few times a year and same for the vinyl areas by wiping over with a good quality product.

Paint : Fading, oxidisation and damage caused by bug splatter, bat & bird droppings tree sap and other aggressive and damaging chemicals. No Yearly inspections of the paint work all we ask you is wash your car with soap and water once a month and that you never wax or polish the vehicle.
Put a good quality sealant on the car and a new coat every 12 months plus wash it in between with a good quality car wash. Even if you pay to get this done you'll get away for under $150 a year and it will look so much better.

Fabric & Carpet : All staining from oil, water and dirt based foods or liquids. If surfaces should become permanently stained 5th Dimension will clean, repair or replace stained surfaces and re-apply the treatment.
As soon as you get the car home pull the mats out and use a few cans of scotchguard (total price under $40). Whilst you wait for this to dry and in between coats (do 3 coats) familiarise yourself with the car by reading the manual.

Window Tinting Film : Bubbling, Cracking, fading, warping & peeling. If this does happen we will replace the damage window film.
My choice is to get this done at the dealer, so many less hassles and you should be able to talk them down to $400 for the good tint. There are many horror stories about damaged cars from dodgy tinters that it's not worth the hassle.

1 - Has anyone else used this package before?
Many years ago I fell for a ming mole, fortunately it wasn't too bad and I was walking alright the next day but never again.

2 - My advise on the forum so far is that this is a rip off and I don't need it.
            Move to question 3.

3 - How can I get the same items but for better price / value?
            See above.

I bet they didn't discount 35% off the cost of the car

I sold cars for a living once.... this was the CREAM of a deal.

Ignore it, its overpriced and not worth it.

                  Translated:

Normally our profit on this is $1845, but until the 30th of June we are cutting our profit back to $1000.

They could have at least updated the doco to show that their "special" is not really that special at all (since it was supposed to end on 30 June). Inflating the price to show a discount is illegal ......

Forget it. Get a quality tint from a tint place for $400-$500.

And if you're really lazy, pay $200 to get it professionally detailed once a year. You'll get 5 of those for the same value as this "package" and I can guarantee the vehicle will look a billion times better after 5 years of pro detailing than 5 years after the "treatment".

Good advice, they are trying to make whatever money the lost on the deal back..

Tint is worth it but not for $600.

Look into the paint protection film (clear car bra etc).. good stuff and still save you from stone chips where the acrylic stuff wont.

Also invest in some decent cleaning products.
