Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Air CON Recirculation Help

    My Air con is climatronic.

Recently When i push the recirculation button there no air coming out from the vents or anywhere else in the car. I would hear the air been sucking at the filter.

The air con works ok when taking air from outside.

Do anyone know what's wrong? Is there a gate or a flip easily check to see it is block or something?

    Many thanks.

    Hi there,

It may be a vacuum capsule under that dash that has perforated causing a vacuum leak. You may notice when A/c is turned on or temp is set below about 20c when you accelerate the is a reduction in air flow out the centre vents. As you deaccelerate the air flow comes back.

This occurred on my 2000 Caravelle. I picked up an identical vaccum capsule from an 86 PUG 505 at Pick -a-part for $5 !

    Regards,

    Scott
