  • Factory bluetooth EGO TALK. Microphone problem.

Callers tell me my voice is distorted and there is echo. I have tried turning the phone down as low as it goes and the on volume the car down but it is still loud and distorted to my callers.

Is there any way to turn down the sensitivity of the microphone in the car?

Unfortunately the EGO TALK is not factory bluetooth, it's the Parrot kit installed by the dealer.

I went through two of those kits before the dealer very generously installed the VW Volk-L kit for me, which has been trouble-free ever since.

      VW Volk-L kit

Can you provide more info on this "VW Volk-L kit"? The replacement EGO in my Pasaat is acting up badly and the Parrot in my GTI may need replacing to. Hopefully not with an EGO. Thanks.

The dealer just replaced my parrot kit with the genuine kit for free. I don't know how to get it apart from that, but from all the detail I can find, it's the Volk-L kit - govolkl.com

I sent a copy of your post to my dealer, Burwin VW. They have agreed to replace my unit on warrantee. They say they can only replace it with the same unit. That means a new Parrot unit. Hope it is OK.

Can you tell me what the problems were with your two Parrot units?

Also what is the name of your dealer?

The volkl is no more genuine than the parrot kit.

The genuine vag kits are ones like the skoda and hs-1, hs-2 and hs-3 kits.

Yeah - I meant "genuine" in terms of the fact that it presents as VW UHV rather than EGO TALK and is directly marketed by VW rather than just resold.

Werribee Volkswagen replaced my EGO talk with the Nokia as EGO talk are no longer in business and cannot honour warrenties. I would suggest that Burwin VW cannot supply a replacement EGO

Well, we'll see I guess. Suits me fine to have another unit as I have no faith in the EGO TALK one. It is booked in in two weeks time for the replacement.

For the record, the service at Burwin has been first class. The rates are very reasonable for a dealer. I travel from Geelong to Ferntree Gully for service. I guess you could say I am crazy but I got a very good deal on this car and the service has been great. They have my recommendation.

Burwin Replaced my EGO TALk unit.

My EGO TALK unit has been replaced. Performance is better but callers say the reception from passengers speaking is clearer than from the driver. Sounds overmodulated. I wish there was a way to turn down the sensitivity of the microphone.

                        Microphone is TOO sensitive.

Sat in the back seat and speaking softly. My callers say I am really clear. As apposed to siting in the driver's seat which sounds distorted & loud despite the settings. How do I turn down the mic sensitivity?

Turn down your phone's volume when connected to the bluetooth, this may help.

I discovered this week if i turn the volume of the ego talk down using the car stereo controls the mic becomes a lot clearer.

Tried it and it did seem to help. Thanks. If I turn down the volume on the stereo the call becomes too quiet and I can't hear it.

I wonder if I have a faulty Microphone? Perhaps I should ask Burwin to replace this?
