Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Extended VW Manufacturers Warranty and best service in Sydney

    Hi,
I was wondering if it was a good idea to buy extended warranty now or once the 3 year warranty expires?

Also want to know the best VW service in town. I live in north side of Sydney but would be happy to drive around for the best service available.

    I am buying a 118TSI 1.4L Jetta.

    Regards

You can't buy it once the factory warranty expires, you have to buy it between purchase and before the warranty expires.'

I'd buy it before the warranty ends sometime as if the car is written off, you sell it etc etc you've just thrown that money away.

I'm quite happy with the car service and customer service at CCC Artarmon ... though a bit more expensive than the one at Waitara. I guess you're getting what you pay for.

Agree with what you said but there is a cancellation clause where you can get your money back (pro-rata & admin fees apply) providing you haven't made a claim.

The extended warranty is transferable to a new owner should you sell the car (one of the main reasons I'd purchase the warranty is to make purchase more attractive to potential buyers).

        It's all in the PDS

Thank you Brad and Dubdabest for your comments so far. I am also negotiating the price for the extended warranty with the dealer but I will also ask him for the latest PDS 1st so that I know the latest T&Cs.

There is a thread on here regarding the best price for warranty - search that and make sure the dealer is as competitive.

the latest PDS will be on the VW Aus site (where i linked to).

1.4 Jetta should be about $1269. ie: It's not Naturally Aspirated=$1038 & it isn't a "performance model" = $1417.95 so logical closest relative are the diesels @ $1269.24

              R32 - AUTO /MANUAL $1417.95
              GTI - AUTO / MANUAL - $1417.95
              1.6 COMFORT - - $1038.00
              1.9 TDI COMFORT/TRENDLINE - $1269.24
              2.0 FSI - $1038.45
              2.0 TDI - $1269.24
