Bad Experience with VW Service Dept

Your bumper hasn't been fitted incorrectly at the factory mate. Your car has been pranged and repaired. This is not uncommon at all on brand new cars.

Yes it was upgraded to the SatNav system, not sure of the model number of this though. And is was a pre delivery fitment.

The RNS 510 requires the Aux wiring to be modified when upgrading from the RCD 500. The RCD 500 only has CD changer input (you had to choose cd changer OR aux in) whereas the RNS 510 has CD changer input and Aux input on the same connector. Essentially they have use the ground from one input and the L+R channels from another.

Hope you receive a good resolution to your problems, i've now had my fair share of "condescending" service managers with Volkswagen and will be opting for work services performed indepedantly, unless it comes to warranty related items.

If i had spent near $60K for a "brand new" car, i'd expect to receive just that, and can be sure i'd be raising all manners of hell if they weren't co-operating.

Don't know what side of Adelaide you're on (or which Solitare you're talking about) but German Auto in Melrose Park do warranty and log book servicing. They've been around for years and used to do air-cooled VWs (then called Volks Auto)

Don't know what side of Adelaide you're on (or which Solitare you're talking about) but German Auto in Melrose Park do warranty and log book servicing. They've been around for years and used to do air-cooled VWs (then called Volks Auto)

Yes been past the boys at Melrose Park when i was looking at an APR upgrade, i understand they just completed their first one last month on another R32.

I called the dealer again and asked them to check the transportation logs, apparently if there was any damage that needed fixing it would be recorded.

Anyway, have just got home... in my R32. All is fixed, bumper realigned, apparently they again clipped it on incorrectly, centre console is now fit together perfectly with no flex and the IPOD sound quality is spot on.

The guys there were so apologetic and they have also thrown in the first service for free. I suppose thats my silver lining.

Just nice to have her back in the garage. You don't realise how much you miss the exhaust note until you go without it for a few days.

Apparently they used this situation as a way to bring the entire Solitaire service guys together and reassess their Q&A processes.

I suppose every once in a while we all need our arse kicked, i'm no different (thanks Dad) and it seems they have learnt from it.

Thanks Maverick, not sure how they fixed it, but it is working correctly now, what they did tell me was that the cable itself had a dodgy connection... somehow don't think this could be the problem, but i'm not a tech.

it probably was the wiring on the plug.

as Mav stated, the RNS510 needs to have the ground pins swapped over, or you get **** quality from the audio input.
this is a well known fact....

Volksfactory at Braeside Ave Holden Hill do the same. Our Golf V is due for its first service (@ Solitaire) then it will be to the Volksfactory. I'll buy the engine oil from Solitaire for the Volksfactory to use.

PS....I believe the Service Dept is into their 3rd Service advisor in the first 12 months of our Golf ownership. This must place place a lot of pressure on their system to be constantly training their Senior Service Advisors. I got on very well with the first, met the 2nd once, and have yet to meet the third.

In england he work for merc , porsche , vw , he's name is Pan from K & L prestige his number is 0423344386 . He's alot cheaper than most out there and definitely will not shaft you around.
