  • EGO TALK compatible phones.

My factory EGO TALK Bluetooth system has never worked properly. It is plagued by echo and noise problems (for callers).

I have come to the conclusion that the problem is most likely my Nokia 6300.

Does anyone know of a list of phones that work well with this VW system? Even if users could post their phone brand and model that works successfully that would help me. I need to buy a new phone.

Yes. It has been checked and reset twice. The levels have been set on both the unit and my phone. The problem remains. I believe it is the phone that is incompatible.

        Me too

Had the Parrot in my Passat replaced recently with the EGO system and I am experiencing exactly the same problems as you. This is on a Nokia N95 and a Motorola V9 RAZR.

I do recall the Parrott being quite bad when I first started to use it so I'm hoping over time the system will work out the right settings. At least I'm hopeful of that as my GTI's Parrot may need replacing soon too.

I am using mine with the iphone 3gs, it works pretty well although according to some people the quality is not as good as my supertooth 3.

The other annoying thing is that voice dialling doesnt work, but i can live with that i normally receive more calls than i make in the car.

Get a friend or 2 with a diff phone and try it on the system.

            This will prove the issue.

I had problems with my EGO Talk such as locking up completely and unable to get anything at all, random auto connect/disconnect, constant echo for the caller. Never happened when the dealer tried however they informed that the maker had gone broke and could not honor warranty claims so they installed the new Nokia and it works brillantly

                New Samsung Phone

I lashed out and purchased a new Samsung F480V phone. Pairs successfully to the Ego Talk system. Calls are clear and works a treat.

Only mystery is that with the Nokia as soon as you pushed any button on the phone the Phone system muted the sound system and all generated tones from the phone came through the speakers.

Now with the Samsung the Ego Talk only activates when you initiate the call. No phone tones are played through the car sound system. Very odd.

Also fine with my iphone 3g + 3gs.

Redo the pairing. Sounds like you have may it paired as a "headset" rather than "handsfree". There is a subtle difference; the tones being one of them ?IIRC.

Yep try pairing them again - mine was working fine when I first installed it then major echoe's etc the 2nd time no matter what - 3rd time redid the pairing and it seems to be ok again.

                        Headset or hands free?

When I paired the Nokia and the SAMSUNG the icon for the EGO TALK device appears as a headset. There is no option to select anything else.

I did try re-pairing the phone. Seems to have improved the performance. I also changed the profile to OUTDOOR from normal hoping it would cut back the mike sensitivity. Seems better now.
