Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

just had a look at the fitting instructions. Its a piece of plastic with 2 holes in it and some double sided tape! Not a bad way of doing it but you could knock something like that up yourself in a couple minutes.

Secureaplate is Australia’s only powder coated aluminium universal registration plate adapter. It has been designed to suit a wide variety of vehicles with European hole locations to achieve easy fitting of Australian registration plates, including slimline without the need to drill the registration plate or vehicle. This plate allows the original screw holes to be used in the registration plate maintaining the appearance of the plate and vehicle.

thats all it is a metal plate with holes in it and you use double sided tape to secure the plate

          fitting guide

why not just stick the plate to the car with double sided tape?? much cheaper option

I would be scared it would fall off...

PS. With the Secureaplate, you still use screws to attach it. The double sided tape is to stop rattles.

Why not use zippy-ties and have it attached to the mesh in the air dams?

I used some dark grey foam style of double sided tape to temporarily stick my (plastic) number plates until I got around to making an aluminium bracket to hold the plate without drilling any extra holes in the bodywork of my Octy.

That stuff sticks very well indeed - I was worried I might break the plate getting it off, and spent quite some time getting the foam and glue off both the car and the plate.

just buy them from TIM or DUBADDICTION! I got them, fits perfect, but need a bit of drilling on the actually holder, but worth it IMO!

Why not just use a clear number plate cover/frame with the mounting holes in the corner and use them to secure the plate. I have always done on my vehicles with no holes thru centre of plates etc.
