Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Question on Boot Liner

Just picked up my boot liner which was bundled in the deal for my MkV R32 from the dealer and to my surprise, its a very flimsy material much like the plastic off the meat tray in a supermarket. It is flexible, but feels very foamy. It certainly isn't any hard wearing plastic nor is it rubber. Its got stamped >PE< on the back. Just wondering if any of you have this accessory and what yours look like and the material used. Are there different variants like rubber ones or plastic ones?

It's the best of the 3 available unless you really want the boot tray or the boot box with the 10cm+ lip made out of really heavy rubber.

The material it's made out of is very durable and has the benefit of being light weight and non slip.

I've got the boot box but it isn't made out of rubber but ABS plastic - which is just as robust.

The box has one disadvantage in that you cannot lay anything flat through the back when the rear seats are put forward bec of the lip. Other than that it's great.
