  • Which road side assistance doing bette?

It is time for me renew the service of Road Side Assistance. I am not sure still keeping the VW's Assist or going for i.e. NRMA's or others' etc. Which would be better offer in all aspects to owner's concerned, Any comment would be appreciated.

Can't beat the Total Care packages, especially if you travel long distances from home.

Aren't they the same thing? I.E. If you call VW roadside assistance, they send out an NRMA (or equal) truck?

My battery died, and VW roadside assist sent Mondial out:

Service was good, battery was replaced under warranty.

Mrs waited 2 hours for roadside assist from VW at 8pm, alone in the dark near the city. Not real happy with that.

I'm sure VWA don't have their own dedicated team of vans and trucks, so it would depend on how busy their local agent was at the time (and the same would apply to NRMA etc).

i've had to wait that long for RACV. it depends on the night/day and how busy they are.

Yeah, i had RACV platinum membership or whatever it was called. was good for me as it covers your main vehicle plus any vehicle you are travelling in for about $130 /yr. That meant that i was covered for the Car and the Bike with 1 card.

Since getting the free VW assist i have reduced my membership back to no roadside cover and the bike has got roadside assist bundled with the insurance.

Unfortunately you have to wait with them all, but i di break down 50km into a 10 day road trip a couple of years back on my RACV cover, i limped so as i was outside the 100km limit and called them from violet town. They gave me a rental car for the full 10 days to continue my trip.
