  • R32 VF Engineering Intake installed!!

During the week I took off my Modshack and installed the VF Engineering Intake for my R32.

    Intake supplied by Lucas@Eurospeed.

crappy photos taken from iPhone 3Gs

Modshack removed leaving big empty space:

    Heatshield installed:

    Another shot of the heatshield:

Supplied cold air pipe - made from some material as intake piping:

Intake all hooked up and reinstalled the OEM front fresh air feed:

    Another shot:

My comparison between VF and Modshack intakes:

I wasn't expecting much, if any, difference between the two intake systems (it was not my reason to change). Personally I thought that the Modshack is a pretty good intake, but I didn't like the ghetto look and feel of it.

The VF intake looks and feels solid and the connectors, piping and heatshield are well put together and good quality. After a long and semi-hard drive last night I could definately feel a temperature difference either side of the heatshield, so i can safely say that the intake is sucking in cool air.

Sound wise, I thought that the modshack was loud - the induction noise of this intake is crazy. on WOT and changing gears, the car sounds nuts with heaps of dsg fart/flutter.

    Overall, pretty happy with it!

    Highly recommend!!

Nice little review there mate - was there much price difference between the two?

Can you take a pic of the CAI position where the air feeds in?

    Install looks very tidy

ill try get a pic of the cold air feed tonight. will also try take a video/sound clip of it.

i think the modshack was US$275, this is US$300 retail price. but i think shipping for the VF is considerablely more as it came in a much larger box!

i imagine now that the .:R is complete now (apart from maybe some brake/suspension mods before looking at some Forced Induction)? GIAC and intake is pretty much it for performance mods before spending big buckeroos?
keen to hear how you like the VF after a few weeks and a few spirited drives.

im currently thinking about doing something with the exhaust. gotta talk to Lucas and see what he recommends. might even go custom.

but apart from engine mods, thats it for me. need extra big bucks to get more power. possibility of doing cams but there are trade offs with that too.

maybe run a small shot of nitrous hahahaha.

suspension i might look at further down the track. as i dont do any track days, i dont see any point in going to a coilover system etc, so maybe just springs and shocks.
