  • question for those with Charleston alloys

    Hi All,

I just bought a used set of Charlestons for my Jetta

Quick question for you all. How do you remove the plastic wheel nut covers? Is there a special tool for that or do you just unclip them with your hands?

in your tool kit there should be a little puller. looks like a ring with a small hook hanging off it. You put it through the hole in the end of the cap and pull towards you

I cant say I noticed that little puller part in the tool kit but I will look again tomorrow.

My original wheels didnt have any wheel nut caps so would I still have this tool?

            haha good point

Just wondering if I need to carry something around in the car in case I ever get a flat and need to remove the wheels.

              Haha that's funny Tim

The pin is kinda hidden in the groove of the toolkit foam in the middle of the spare wheel.

While you're looking for it... also check for the towing eye/hook for front bumper. I found out that my Jetta never came with it when I took delivery of the car... can be problematic if your Jetta needs to be towed away but there is no hook to tow it

faisan, you did well to buy these (locally or through a tyre or VW place?). Nice wheels.
Pls PM details; I had no luck with such a purchase.

                Cheers,

Thanks guys. I found the little hook tool in my tool box. its wedged between some foam and isnt easy to pick if you didnt know what you were looking for.

Bizi, I bought the Charlestons off a guy on eBay who bought a demo Jetta with them already fitted. He didnt want them cause he lived in a country town with bad roads so he bought some 16"s instead and sold the Charlestons.

I love the wheels but didnt want to pay the dealer the $2000 or $2500 price they wanted for them. This way I get to sell my Classixs to help offset the cost of the Charlestons and I save heaps

Anyone who wants a set of Classixs in perfect condition with Conti CS2 tyres with only 9000kms, let me know

If you don't mind me asking, here or via PM, what did you get them for? Presumably after the auction if it's the set I'm thinking of (guy who bought car in VIC and lives in NSW) which didn't sell for the steep asking price.

Nice pickup, anyway. The only worry is gutter rash!

I'd have gone the Classix (having had no luck getting the lovely Charlstons) except I found something else.

                      .
I cant say the price I paid but it was close to the asking price.

I have fitted the wheels already and there is no gutter rash at all.

I will give the car a wash on the weekend if the weather plays nice and will post some pics then.

They do look good though. Ive already received a few comments from people in the work car park
