Does anyone know if its possible to fit a full size spare in the Jetta boot?
I seriously looked at the Jetta before settling on the Passat. The Jetta already has a full sized spare, it's just that the standard one is steel rather than a matching alloy. You will be able to replace it with an alloy version if you wish as it's the same size.
I was advised by the dealer that the standard one is steel as its calculated that way into the body "package" as a whole for rear end crumple protection. Not sure if swapping to an alloy affects that but the standard passat spare is a matching alloy and the rear body "package" is very close to the jetta.
I suspect that steel vs alloy may just be a cost saving thing

About on par with the UK car manufacturers and importers telling everyone the only reason they have stopped supplying ANY spare wheel with new cars is to save weight and therefore improve fuel economy. That fact that it saves them money has nothing to do with it of course !!!
I find it really off that when the poms go over to Europe that must (by law) carry a set of spare globes for their lights, but they don't have to carry a spare wheel. Seems to me limping along at 10kmh on a flat tyre or being forced to abandon your car where it gets a flat might cause a more dangerous situation
