  • Excessive brake dust

It seems that every other Golf I see has wheels that are 10 times cleaner than mine. Seriously, every time I wash my car, the wheels get filthy within about 2 days.

Is this a problem for anyone else? Using the original standard pads (TDI comfortline)

I use Hawk Ceramic low dust. A few posts on alternate pads below.

My rears get filthier than the fronts but they only look slightly dirty after about 500km. I usually wash it after 1000km.

Try some sealant on the rims (inside & out). Something like Poorboys Wheel Sealant or even a good quality wax.

You will have to remove the wheel off the car, clean it thoroughly, then seal it. You may as well give the brake calipers & baking plate a good blast with high pressure water while you have the wheel off & give it a wash with some suds.

Talk to Chris at Waxit for advice. (or carcareproducts in Sydney is a forum sponsor).

Try Armor All's Wheel protectant spread can, it wouldn't let you down. From memory, it is around $13 each from Supercheap.

I too have Hawk ceramics...they work well and are reasonable value. Now I get 4 or 5 days before I need to clean my wheels now (I'm not OCD or anything).

I will try that also. The fronts on mine get filthy after 50km.
