Finally!!! After 2008 Jetta

Hi guys

After three long years of researching and waiting until we could afford it, we are now officially hunting for a 07/08 Jetta TDI (black, of course )
We've been going hard on our home loan and it's almost paid off.
We would prefer manual, but manual diesels close to us are rare. A DSG is probably what we'll end up with. Also looking for less than 20000km on the clock.

Is there anything I need to be particularly mindful/looking/listening for when inspecting the beasties?

But there really isn't anything too look out for in terms of faults etc. You're always going to hear personal stories about individual problems but there really aren't any broad problems known to the 103's. Good luck searching

We've looked into that, but we could save 10 grand just by getting a one year old car in great nick. Currently negotiating with a dealer for a 08 model with 16000kms DSG for $30k drive away. We are doing a novated lease which means we don't pay GST so that brings it to $27k!
Also, most of our driving is short urban trips so getting a 2008 model means pumpe duse with no DPF, which means no potential DPF clogging issues...

Yes, and a white Camry as well
Took the black beast (Jetta) for a test drive - perfect. The DSG sure is a jerky critter!
OUr Camry and the new Jetta were parked side by side - chalk and cheese!!!!

I'll be picking it up on Thursday after the window tint is done. Gonna be a long week!

I must say that even though the Camry is boring, it has served us very well. It has been ultra reliable.
I hope the Jetta will be the same.
