    Hey guys just had a query. Noticed upon cleaning the car the other day that there was some damage under the front left wheel arch, i think you would describe it as the lining as such.

    Seems like there is a tear into it. Not quite sure how it got there, as i've only just noticed it.

    To give a better representation of what i'm referring to i've attached a picture.

    Is this something that can be repaired? What price would i be looking at?

    Also what kind of effect could this have on my drive as such. I would assume more air could enter the wheel arch which may result in the other day my brakes feeling alittle spongy and less grabby.

    thats just the wheel arch liner to stop crap from getting into the engine bay from your wheels.

    don't think it would be a big issue unless u were fussy about it. all the air getting into the arch from that would be neglible (may even cool your brakes HAHAHAHA)

      You could probably get that welded up - most panel shops can do plastic welding.

        ahahahh yeah if i think about it in that way, i've saved myself a few pennies instead of investing in slotted rotors.

        Yeah im not way too fussed about it, i might just try and get it welded up or heaven forbid duct tape it.

            IIRC quite a few people were complaining about tyres scrapping and hitting the wheel tub liner during harsh braking and turning into corners, and especially the LHS, so I dare say, if your R32 is second hand, could have had the wheel hit the tub liner there a couple of times during harsh deceleration and whilst cornering. I think its a well known issue. That heavy V6 in the front, together with weight transfer during such manouvre could make the tyre being in contact with liner resulting in a split.

            Some people have opted to upgrade their suspension but then you will lose the comfortable ride in the standard setting. A slightly beefier sway bay might fix the problem.

            The area behind the liner is usually some recessed space between metal sheets, and the function of the liner is there to stop loose gravel and mud getting trapped there, thereby causing a perpetual dampness and causing rust formation. If I were you, I'd remove the liner and duct tape it on the inside. While the liner is out, clean out the area in the lower apron area where gravel and sand and mud could collect. Cheers.
