Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Fuel economy after chip

    Hey guys, this is just some photos of what i've tested today after I've done the Evolve chip. This test is actually requested by Eeney, figured that might as well just share it here with you guys. Some comments and discussion will be good as well

    I've started the test on some regular roads stop and start to 80 kph; rpm ranging from 1.5k to 3k. The lowest I've hit was about 8.5 L/100 km but that test was short, only for about 10-15 mins.

    Cruising at the freeway at 2000 rpm at 80 kph at 6th gear from warrigal road exit to burke road exit (had to stop there, trucks were kicking up rocks, hehe);

    When I passed Foster Road exit I got this;

    When I was about to reach the burke road exit, I've hit 7L/100km. just as I've got into the exit lane, it droped by 0.1;

    I'd reckon it could hit better if i'd gone all the way to airport.

    And on the way back to Blackburn road exit, 2000 rpm and at 100 kph at 6th gear. This is what I've got;

    Hope this helps Eeney, and do bare in mind your GTI is manual and has a smaller turbo. So, my results will vary with yours.

    And what did you get prior to the chip?

    Is this an economy or power chip?

      Power chip, I didn't get exact measurements but it's about 220+ KW and 440+ NM. I didn't measure what's before the chip but those numbers looks good to me after the chip . Should check with someone who has a stock pirelli.. It'll be interesting to see if it's close or better.
