Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Steering Assist Adaption

    I find my 2009 Jetta has fairly consistant heavy steering, this is particularly noticable when trying to park. I have been keen to adjust the sensitivity of the steering assistance.

    Noticed on the Vortex forums (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2428776) that it used to be possible to use Vagcom with the earlier MkVs to adjust their steering sensitivity, but it's claimed that the later ones were non-adjustable.

    Just played with mine and it is certainly adjustable once again (with no faults generated).

    Using Vag-Com:
    Steering assist (44) -> Adaption (10) -> Channel 03 -> (Adjustable value 0-2)

    Originally my value was 0 and I've settled on 1 for the time being.

    Noticed the following (roughly):
    0 = heavier steering whilst driving; carpark speeds have similar heavy steering
    1 = heavier steering whilst driving; carpark speeds have much lighter steering
    2 = lighter steering up to ?80km/h; carpark speeds very light

    Perhaps this may be useful down the track for somebody.

      I found I only had 0 and 1 as options in the drop down box. It didnt refer to more or less assist.
      Can you recall if the box referred to the assist on yours??
