DSG servicing intervals

How often does the DSG need attention in the scheduled servicing? Are they all the same cost?

DSG needs a service every 60,000k's (so 60K, 120K, 180K etc). They end up being the most expensive services because of the DSG.

Believe the 6spd & 7spd hold different levels of oil (one is wet clutch and one is dry). That would probably alter the price a bit, should be the same otherwise I think.

Every 60,000km it requires a filter change and new oil, factor in around $400-500 (as Jase pointed out the 7 speed dry clutch will be probably $200+ cheaper).

Also covered in your user manual and by using the search facility!

DSG needs a service every 60,000k's (so 60K, 120K, 180K etc). They end up being the most expensive services because of the DSG.

The 60,000 is by distance not time so it may not have to be done until the 5 or 6 year service depending on how many km's are traveled each year.

very reasonable considering what VW charges for the same job.....

what else is involved for the TDI service? motor oil/filter/air filter, etc etc?

Something's wrong with those prices.

120k service includes timing belt replacement, DSG service, brake fluid change. No way could you get all that for $340.

not the entire 120k service.

the rest of the servicing ill be doing myself, as my car is not under warranty.
also my car is not in line with the factory service schedule either, as the timing belt was replaced at 107k km (by the previous owner).

so all i wanted euro autotech to do was the DSG service.

Pre purchase, VW quoted me 60,000km service based on MK5 DSG6 intervals. Having just been in erwin VW, I now believe there is no service interval for the DSG7. Nothing in my user manual regarding DSG service, nor is there any thing in the erwin service tables for my car.

I think perhaps, 60,000km relates to the 6-speed DSG, 02E and not the 7-speed DSG, OAM. This is reflected in the Workshop manual as follows..

"Model description: Golf 1.4 COMFO 118TSI D7F
Renewing gear oil
The gearbox is filled for life. Therefore, there is no need to
check the oil level of this gearbox.
This explains why there is no oil level check......"
then if goes on to explain how to renew the oil if the DSG develops an oil leak.

Unless the Mechatronic unit requires an oil change, but I cannot see that listed for the D7F either. It just says, if Mechatronic unit needs replacing leave oil in it and send it off for repair. Replacement unit will be pre-filled with oil. I know the clutches are supposed to be for the life of the car, hence the 240nm torque limit. Could it be that the whole DSG7 is now supposed to be zero maintenance? I hope so...

I can't see how the dry clutches in the 7speed DSG can be expected to last for the life of the car, particularly if they are driven in heavy traffic a lot (which is a major reason for buying a DSG in the first place). Unless of course the "design life" is only 100,000km (you know, the distance the factory warranty lasts )

Maybe its life can be extended if you change the oil.

Mercedes had the same on a lot of their vehicles.
They now specify changing the oil.
Fixed a lot of issues some owners were getting.
Sadly some had gone too far and replacing the brown sludge made them worse as there was too much wear.

Life time in cars language is 5 years or 120,000km (by German TUV)

What??? 240nm limit? Is this right? I thought the DSG7 could handle at least 320nm.
