  • Retro fitting Fog Lights to MK5

Has anybody successfully retro fitted front fogs to their car.
There are kits available using a relay to interface with the OEM light switch and wondering how successfull these are?

Well i've asked them at the dealership and they don't retrofit them.. Shame, I would've had it done if they did. You can pick up some reasonably priced kits at either www.oemplus.com or TM Tuning... But OEMplus has recently had a massive price hike

yeah, i have heard that dealers don't do it.....

these kits arent too bad price wise ($270 US) not delivered.

i will probably get one of these in the not too distant future.

I've retro fitted fogs to 2 cars (Jetta & Passat)
Bought kits from OEMplus in the states.
Running the wiring is the hardest part - fogs to ECU under dashboard.
These kits come with specific wiring loom, so adding the individual wires into the factory plugs that go into the body control module is no problem.
You will need Vagcom to activate this option before it will work.
You should get the correct headlight switch as well so it looks factory.
The grills on the Jetta are a bit awkward to swap over (removal of painted trim from grills)

I choose the 'projector' fogs and not the 'reflector'. Projectors much better. The first ones I installed were bought locally (reflector), pretty average, ordered ones from OEMplus in the US, much better. Note that different looms are required depending on with lights you decide.

I have a new set of the projector fogs for sale if anyone interested. (ordered in error), fogs ONLY no wiring.
