  • Fitting car reverse parking sensor

Just brought the car reverse parking sensor, set of 4, don’t like drilling into the upper color coded bumper area, the lower black area would be ideal, but is it is differ to the factory fitted location. I am not sure would this reduce the efficiency of sensors.

What location I should fit them to, specially the corner of lower bumper is curved. Any good experience and a photo would be great.

    Cheers, James

What brand name reverse sensor did you get?

I take it that you have a MkV golf? Which model? Generally speaking, it shouldn't affect the efficiency of the sensor mounting it on the lower portion. Any which way, you'll have to drill into the bumper - be it the upper or lower half. Mounting it on the top half looks much more genuine though. What do they look like and are the sensors roughly the same diameter as the factory ones?

No sensor will look as good as the original PDC as they're fitted into a different bumper that has recesses built in so the sensors sit just under flush. Better to mount them into the black bumper IMO as they will look better.

I got sensors in the Caddy which were fine until I lowered the car. Now I'm always 0.3m away from any obstacle... d'oh!

Don't forget if you're getting power from the reverse light, you will need to put a capacitor in line because it uses modulated signals or something
