TDi Injector Flush

Hi Guys,

I took my Jetta TDi in for a 60k service this morning, the dealer was selling me on getting my injectors flushed, seeing as though it was only $89 I decided to go for it, should I expect any improved fuel economy ?

Most likely not.
I suggest that you use Moreys diesel engine smoke killer regularly (much cheaper and better option IMO) instead just the one of injector flush (it could be just a bottle of injector cleaner in you tank and nothing more - it would be worth it, if you ask your dealer for more details what product they use and what they actually do when they flush the injectors?)
P.S. What is you fuel economy now?

Current economy is about 7.5L/100km but that is almost all city driving. It fluctuates between mid 5's to mid 7's with the driving around that city, but I almost always end up getting no more than 720-730km's on a tank.

Well it could be a bit better, if you want it.
Just remember that when you drive in the gear and have the foot of the accelerator engine use "0" fuel, and don't accelerate more than you have to, so you don't have to use the brakes too much. The spirited driving up to 60km/h than easy on the accelerator and you should get it around 6.5 -7L/100km or even less. But at least once a day make sure you load the engine and revs go over 3000RPM preferably in 3rd gear, to clean "the cobwebs" out of the turbo.

I don't think for $89, they would physically take the injectors out to be cleaned via a high pressure injector cleaner IMHO. So, probably just a bottle of some injector cleaner they put in the tank.. Very expensive bottle at that...

I've been looking to clean the injectors on my golf tdi, is Moreys an injector cleaner? and is it better than others available?

This the easiest way to clean the injectors in the TDI (for the mechanicaly minded DIY with reasonable skills). Liqui-Moly Diesel Purge Plus Diesel Treatment - 500ml - Supercheap Auto Australia

I use Interject equipment for that purpose, which connects properly to the fuel system, does the cleaning and at the same time checks injectors flow as well as the fuel delivery pump's pressure and flow. Can be done with the fuel filter change for less than $89 + filter

Is this OK to use with a DPF car?

From recommendations on this forum and others, I have been using Morey's Anti-smoke in my 07 Tdi since I got it and it seems to be a good product. I have noticed a small improvement in performance when I put some in with each tank but it then seems to degrade slightly towards the end of the 2nd week (when tank is nearly empty aprrox 150km DTE). Placebo effect but I think it does help in reducing smoke as well as giving it a slight performance kick (boosts cetane rating?)

Most likely no. Unless they have it in writing in MSDS. Morey's Diesel Smoke Killer is for DPF, so you can safely use that.
