  • Golf GTI wheels painted grey

    Hello,

As my wheels need repainting anything, I was thinking of painting my GTI wheels that shiny grey colour, i.e. similar to the clio sport 182 cup wheel colour.

I've seen the OEM wheels painted black, but not a big fan, but has anyone here painted their GTI wheels grey?

If so, do you mind putting up a photo?

I'm still not 100% sure should I repaint them to the original finish or do something different.

Don't clean the car for a few weeks and they will naturally go grey. That will give you a pretty good indication of what they will look like.

I'm sure someone with photoshop skills could do something for you

I would but I'm not very good with photoshop.
MS Paint + stick figures is about as good as I go....lol

I gave it a try in photoshop, I'm not very good I guess that would give you a rough idea what it might look like (without the shine of course)

Gunmetal Denvers will look great - don't go for full black IMO.
I had a set of gunmetal wheels and they didn't look dirty at all.
The upside is they don't look dirty as often as the bright silver OEM ones do, so you can go a bit longer between cleans...
Brake dust from my OEM pads was pretty brown so it was quite obvious when they were actually dirty.

I think it's a great way to look unique, and not be "yet another GTI".

I'm thinking of painting my stocko GT wheels just to be different.

well, I just bought a 2nd set of GTI Wheels.

Will clean it up, putty and sand it up.

I'll take it to a panel beater friend to spray in some sort of bright metallic grey colour- hopefully with lots of metallic specks.

If i do like it, the originals will go on sale, if not, the painted ones will go back to ebay.

I actually like the Denvers, i think they suit the car very well.

plus, I personally think, 17s have the performance/handling (not to mention price) advantage over the 18s. having said that, 235/245s would help the GTI off the line.

I must admit I was thinking of some rep RS4s, but decided to stay with the BBS'.

Not a fan of full black, unless it was super glossy, otherwise it would just look dirty.
