Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    hey all
I m new here, got some questions if some one can help me out.
I just picked my R32 yesterday, i found some fog in both headlight today, Is that normal?? anyone has the same problem??
    thanks in advance.

It's not normal and it means moisture is getting into the headlight cluster. I'm not sure whether it's something to go back to VW about but it definitely should not be happening.

Not normal. Is this a new vehicle? If so, definitely take it back to the dealership. If its a second hand one, make sure there's been no accident in the front whereby the headlight unit had been replaced and not put on properly.

It's normal under some specific conditions. I wouldn't worry about it unless it keeps occurring.

              back from dealership

Just came back from the dealership, they told me: " the rear wiper is a problem, u need to wait untill next frieday to be booked in. but fog in the headlight is not an issue"
I asked them to disconect the rear wiper first, so it wont disturb me when i drive the car.
Feel kind of sad while i was walking home

Headlights do breathe a little bit but should be dry after a few cycles of lights.

                Walking home ??

Best to find probs at the beginning I suppose

Just keep your headlights while you drive to see if it clears.. Not only will it clear but it will get you seen

Don't walk home, hit them up for a loan car as it's a brand new car and it's still under warrantee.

Frankly I think any moisture in the cluster is an issue. Mazda's are notorious for this problem (front/rear) and my sis in law always had bulbs blowing.. Not sure if it was related but I always thought it would be (could be my ignorance setting in..)

I'm pretty sure that it covers this in the manual where it states that it's normal and any condensation will evaporate within a few minutes of turning the headlights on.

It's especially normal when the car is brand new as the lights haven't been operated for a period of time and the car has been sitting around.

Unless it's a frequent problem and there is water in the bottom of the lights the dealer won't and can't do anything as VW won't replace them under warranty.

Yeah apparently this can be normal, as long as it's a little bit of moisture and not half a fish tank. In the dealerships I've worked for over the years, various manufacturers have instructed us not to replace lenses if there's a little bit of moisture inside. Instead they ask us to leave the light on for an hour or so to help dry it out. Would love to see moisture inside an LED lens in that case, lol.
