Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I have the same problem with my MkV 2.0FSi. I buought my MkV golf with 67k on the clock and it has had spark plugs replace and some worn coils. It is running a bit better, not 100% though.

Same little flat spot when taking off. I am probably thinking fuel injectors and fuel system. I am giving it a fuel line flush with some additive and using 98oct fuel. Im also resetting the ECU by taking off the battery for a while and reconnecting it.

I will post back with some (hopefully positive) results.
    05 MKV 2.0FSi......nice.

It should be doable without disconnecting the battery. Did you try the method suggested above?

Nah, already took the battery connecter off. I have to stay the revs climb a lot smoother. Dont know if its the new tank of 98oct fuel with combined additive. I will try your method tomorrow morning. Where did you find this information??

Can the problem in this thread be related, or what it might turn into:

However it looks like the postings with the real answers have been deleted. But it looks like the FSI operation mode (stratified <> homogeneous) transition might have been the problem. And if you look at the new VW technical papers they say that (while the engines have direct injection) they don't use the stratified mode any more, only homogeneous mode.

And from the thread above it appears that the stratified mode can be turned off with a reflash (or whatever it's proper term is).

I remember reading that thread...it was bit confudsing because the car was worked on so many times and there seemed to be confusion about what the mechanics were actually doing and telling the owner!

            BUT

It could well be a mode tansition thing because my engine is fairly burbly and a bit tappety sounding (I read in another thread that the FSI injection mode can sound like that) when initially taking off, then as the power drops it virtually goes silent (which just exagerates the sensory change) as the revs stop/drop and then gets going again with a much quieter engine/induction note. So I dont know if thats the transition from the FSI lean burn to the normal homogeneous mode once the revs/speed pick up?

I have to say that the reflash makes a little difference (battery connector off) and I dont know about you guys but I seem to notice a difference.

I tried the other kind of reflash (accessories, accel pedal to floor then off) and didnt notice anything at all.

The other notice is obviously in the mornings, the flat spot is more prominent. After the engine warms up I hardly notice it. I think Im just revving it more to snap it into gear and get going.

True, it feels like you sort of have to give it some extra time. Sometimes I think the ECU tries to hard and the engine just doesn't get fuel / air fast enough.

Bump! Any updates on this? Maybe you've got carbon buildup in your intake manifold.
