Transportation for the car should only be about $500 from previous experience unless it costs more to deliver to Darwin.

You may want to make a trip to Perth or Brissie and purchase one there and have the dealer there transport it to Darwin for you. You should be able to get them to get the fees included in the sale price.

Yeah, I've actually had quotes for delivery for several different cars from a few dealers, cheapest was $1200 for the GTI from Victoria, had a $1500 quote for a different car in NSW and a $1700 quote for another car in rural NSW.

I'm happy to deal with them over the phone, just not sure which dealers are willing to negotiate on price - when I did my first call around (from carsales contacts), one place wouldn't offer anything less than $46,990 drive away for a standard DSG GTI.

PM me with your details - I'll see what I can do for you with the dealer I dealt with here in Sydney.
