WOW they are nice.... Actually I went to Ozzy Tyres a few weeks ago to get my rims and they had a set very similar to those.. Perhaps worth a shot?

    Good luck!!

A good place to get an overview of all the types of OEMs that were produced is here:

      In Australia, you can try:

And don't forget to look at Audi wheels as well - as long as they are the same offset &c..

      Or you can try:

      Good luck!

PLEASE dont get tempe tyre wheels.....if u dont have the budget to get rims, dont buy them and do it right the first time round and get genuine stuff like genuine BBS or genuine whatever, even if it is a bit more expensive.

I got mine from Tempe..no problems at all!

Not everyone can justify or afford to pay $400+ per wheel (and then buy tyres). Nothing wrong with replica's as long as they have passed the relevant tests. Who gives a rats if they weigh an extra kilo or 2? Not me..I don't own a supercar and I'm not looking to improve my lap time from home to work and back.

This post isn't aimed at you personally so please don't think I'm taking the piss. Just some thoughts.

thats a fair enough call. and I agree with you that not everyone can justify spending that much on rims. But personally, If i had the money to buy a GTI, I wouldn't want to skimp on some cheap rims from tempe. thats just a personal preference. no offense (i've had tempe rims on my old accord euro. AME knockoffs...and they looked the part, but straight away, handling was compromised)

Just curiously, how would you or one know if the wheels @ tempe tyres or any other place have passed the relevant tests? What do u mean by the relevant tests?

I don't see how the rims compromised your handling!! more like the tires caused that dude!

often you can get a set of 17" GTI wheels + tyres for a very good price by buying from the forums from ppl who are upgrading the wheels on their GTI's.. I would rather get a set of these in 17" then cheap knock off 18"s from tempe

Ive had a few sets of "knock off" rims. Never had an issue??

Same companies in China, Italy, Taiwan, Thailand make OE rims too.

Besides, if you get a VW centre cap, can you even spot the difference?

I was thinking about getting some GTI reps for my Jetta.. But then decided not to.

                        How's that possible?
                        They weren't round?
                        They were all different diameters?
They weighed more than your engine block?

As Creniac said - it's more likely you had different/worse tyres - or if you went up in size & width of tyre & rim that their new ride/handling characteristics were not as good as stock (happens a fair bit - the original setup is usually pretty good).

Just a thought - most of these upgrades are for the sake of looks - practicality, longevity, and race-worthiness are not really the issue, it's how it looks that's at the heart of all this. So long as the product is safe, what's the problem? And by safe I mean not just opinions of those who've paid a lot more for another product, I mean safe by no ACTUAL failures &c. My 2c.

I agree that for most people, wheel upgrades are for sake of looks, but wheels also serves a practical purpose, not just looks. heavier the wheel, the more stress it puts on the suspension components etc etc, which may make it unsafe for the driver. im pretty sure people who buy wheels from tempe or where ever don't really ask about whether or not a set of rims theyre interested in have passed the relevant tests to make it "safe", since most of the time buyers of wheels go for what looks good, not for what is "safe". Looks is usually the first thing on their minds when going wheel shopping.

personally I'd rather spend a little more money on getting something that I know is the genuine article and of good quality AND looks good rather than skimp and save money JUST for looks and get a set of cheap copies.

If the ONLY purpose of a product was to make it look aesthetically pleasing to the eye, then I wouldn't really mind buying copies (for example, bodykits, rear lip spoilers etc) as they only serve a purpose to make your car stand out from the rest.

again, I understand if you are strapped for cash you would consider another option and by all means if you feel comfortable buying wheels from tempe which are copies, then thats fine. Bottom line is, I personally don't and would rather spend a bit more money on getting good quality genuine wheels. There is a reason why the genuine wheels are much more expensive than the copies.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and naturally if you're happy with it then thats all that matters
