  • quick model question

    Hi all,
Just a quick question about Golf models.

I was under the impression (and have not found any info to prove me wrong) the the Edition models only came out in a 1.9 (for the diesel models), however, I am currently looking at one that has 2.0 listed on the tail gate, and the log book.

Did they come out in a 2.0 DSG? if so, what is the difference between the Edition and the Pacific.

    Thanks in advance

if you go to redbook.com.au it should show you all the different variants that were sold in this country.

The April and August 08 brochures only mention 1.9 TDI Edition and 2.0 TDI Pacific. Was there a change after that?

Someone could have swapped the badges ?????

Difference is Pacific has over Edition in specs:
          Foglights
          Mugello 16 inch Alloy Wheels
          Dual Zone Climate Control
Height & Lumbar adjusting Front Seats
Multi Function Display with Trip Computer
          Cruise Control
Coming Home Function (lights stay on after exiting car for certain amount of time)
          Auto Dim Rear View Mirror.

See what the engine code is by checking in the spare wheel well in the boot on the sticker near the VIN plate.
          -BKC (for 1.9 TDI)
          -BKD (for 2.0TDI)

            Edition:
            1.6 FSI Tiptronic or Manual
            1.9 TDI DSG or Manual

            Pacific
            2.0 FSI Tiptronic or Manual
            2.0 TDI DSG or Manual

There was never a 2.0TDI Edition.

The Pacific came with the stuff mentioned above and auto lights/wipers too.

Does it actually say "Edition" on the tailgate?

I remember when the first Edition and Pacific models came out (as I was interested in a purchase at that time) I am sure I read somewhere that there were problems with the badges that were put on them in the first production run. In fact the first few models that I saw on the showroom floor were not badged correctly.

Not sure if this helps or not.

                thanks for the replys,
it turnes out the dealer was misinformed. The car is a 1.9 edition. Oh well the search for a car continues.
