squealing noise from R32

I know this is a longshot (diagnosing cars over the internets) but its a long weekend and the mechanics are taking a break.

I jumped in my r32 this morning only to find that it makes a massive squeak/squeal from what sounds like the rear passenger side as soon as it goes above about 15km/h. i can't tell exactly where its coming from as my flatmate is away so can't do the 1 drive, 1 listen from outside the car thing.

the odd thing is it doesn't do it in reverse, either that or i just didn't go quite quick enough.

anyone got an idea of what to look at?

You might have picked up a stone in the brakes or something.

Try jacking up the offending corner and spinning the wheel by hand.

this happened to me. i caught a piece of gravel between the left rear rotor and that little flat piece of metal behind it driving down an unlit road at night. i heard a bang when we went through the pothole and then an unholy squealing noise. i shat myself expecting to see sparks and a wheel rolling down the road, it sounded like something had gone very, very wrong. turns out i was able to get rid of it by reversing a few times. the roadside assist lady figured it out after i'd torn her head off for suggesting i leave it by the side of the road and have it towed in the morning, which was totally uncalled for on my part. she was pretty good, i sure as hell couldn't work out what it was after checking all the wheels and seeing nothing.

you were pretty close to the mark, there was a tiny piece of blue metal between the back of the disk and the dust cover. 20 mins later. all gone, jase back to happy

That happen to me as well, in the rear left brake rotor. Omg it good me freaked out at the start ><

My GTI-R pulsar used to do the same thing after an afternoon of rallying around shingle roads in NZ...... I used to just back up fast hell and hit the brakes..... usually flicked the offending stone or what ever caused the screaching out!!
