  • 05 tdi tailgate woes

    (reposted in new thread)
I have a weird problem with the rear wiper and tailgate lights none of these work though the washer still works.
Also the tailgate will not always open and makes a strange reset like noise from near the lock mechanism when it does open.
all the fuses seem to be sound though isolating the correct fuse is difficult as the manual shows a fuse array that is back to front and upside down (maybe because it shows the european vehicle?)
any help would be greatly appreciated

btw if anybody is interested I was in the Nth of France last week and dropped into a country VW dealership which was bigger and better and friendlier than any I have visited in Australia.
    there website is http://www.garage-dittel.com/
I got a price for a cambelt & waterpump replacement kit it was 380 odd euros about $750 i said thanks but no thanks.
they were still very happy to talk to me even though they preffered german or french - try doing that at your local dealership!!

The fuse layout is correct but it's for a left hand drive car, it's pretty easy to follow if you find the first fuse in the top row and work from there.

Also check under the bonnet, the fuse box in there next to the battery. Might be worth taking the panel off and looking inside the tailgate for anything out of the ordinary.

well it isnt a fuse even though I couldnt actually find the correct fuse using the lefthanddrive diagram from my reckoning the said space is empty? why cant VW publish correct diagrams for right hand drive in the owners manual?

any way I opened the tailgate today and the rear wiper started for a second this is repeatable open the gate and it goes there must be a breakin the wiring or a faulty controlunit if such exist in the tailgate

oh where is that multimeter ?
