I think your supercharger catching a cold (or worse, swine flu) is more than enough evidence to void your warranty.

Speaking of intake temps, I drove home in 14C tonight.
Few things can beat the urgency of forced induction & cold weather.

      (ie. the supercharger cover mod)
To a car driven at speed and thus at normal temps, no probably not.

To a heat soaked car crawling in summer traffic, most definately. You just have to understand the theory of intake heat killing turbo car performance and it makes a whole lot of sence.

And as IF a VW tech would look that closely unless it actually went up on a hoist. Cars are pumped in and out at service departments, but if you're that worried about warranty, just leave it alone.

Well it's done, my supercharger cover is completely removed!! unclips real quick and the soldering iron was called upon to split the cover for removal. Polarbear, I can definately hear the more defined sound..... me likes alot!!!

Dad says that hauling my mum must be killing your fuel economy
I say that your probably don't have enough torque to haul her!

hey guys, funny that this thread popped up again...

i attempted removing the sc foam yesterday but only managed to get half of the foam out and scratched the cr@p out of my arms!

does the sc cover fold all the way up (looking from the bottom)? i unclipped both the bottom clips, is there another i need to get to?

i'll be having a take 2 at getting the remaining foam out over the next few days.... at this stage i haven't really noticed any dif in sc sound.

                          thanks again polar

You may as well copy him and take it off .
Sitting in traffic isn't that hard core, i'm sure VW have designed it to operate in a range of temperatures.

There's 2 clips at the bottom and I think 2 at the top, when all undone the cover can be totally detached and moved out of the way slightly so that the foam can be accessed all round. I too have the scratched arms to prove it, was looking like a self-harmer emo there for a bit!
