On topic - It is about removing unnecessary heat insulation around a supercharger that is designed to be open to the air normally. They even have heat fins all over the housing to get rid of heat. It is both performance and sound. It is noisier but it also will run cooler this way and will probably be a fair bit cooler on cold days. Colder boost = lower exhaust gas temps and better engine longevity.
Its location is right near the airstream that exits the engine bay, so the aluminium fins on the supercharger housing will be dissipating heat constantly. I will be monitoring my average variance between AMBIENT and INTAKE air temps and will report back. It used to be 10-12 degrees stock.. it was around 6-7 after my last batch of mods.. I think it is now 5.
