  • Putting an exhaust tip on the 05 TDi

Call me old fashioned.. though something just aint right about a car with no visible exhaust..

Has anyone made the change on a 05 TDi to make it look like a TDi GT or any other Golf that has the duel tips?

What sort of money and headache am i up for?

    Appreciate your input.

But an orange cucumber looks better than a green one.

I've thought about it also so I can put the rear valance from the GLI and not have the empty hole where the exhausts would go...

        Yep, certainly have

You will need to fit a GT or GTI rear valance and then go see your local exhaust shop. Pick which tips you want and get them to cut off old tips and weld new ones on.

It cost me around $150 (not including valance) for my exhaust mod using quality stainless steel tips.

The only thing to be conscious of is you may end up with more soot on your tail gate than before but it's not a big issue.

Geez Mav you're a sour puss.

Man why not go to a plastic weld shop, and see if they can do a decent cutout on your current bumper, and then hit an exhaust shop for some tips?

Seems silly to get a whole valence just for the hole, unless you want the GTI look. I'd cut this out myself just quietly....get some measurements from a GT sport.

I considered doing a cut out as well but I think it would look cheap and no where near as effective. Be heaps cheaper though. If you're in Sydney area you can use my old valance for a practice run as it's just a garden ornament at the moment

I managed to pick up my GT valance from another member at the right time for an excellent price so I was just lucky.

My local exhaust shop often handcuts the rear valance of various cars when he fits twin outlets. Looks factory every time.

I have no idea what tools he uses - maybe a jigsaw & some fine sandpaper

It would be the appearance of extra kW.... cars behind would drop back just to get away from the soot hitting the windscreen

Have to admit I'm not a fan of over smokey diesels.

On the drag strip where you are actually trying to produce power sure, but on a stock road car / 4 x 4 ....
