From this post can I take it that it is possible to open the sunroof with the remote? (I can only open my windows with the remote.)

If set up this way, can one still open the windows only, or do roof and windows open simultaneously?

Finally, how does one set up the roof and windows to close automatically in the event of rain?

Only a magician with a VAGCOM cable could make this happen.

My car does it ... it is only factory GTI.

Hold down the lock button and keep holding it down and the windows go up and sunroof closes as well. Same thing when unlocking except I do not think the sunroof will open .. not sure.

I heard here or somewhere else that the rain sensors will allow you to auto close during the time it takes for the ECU to reset itself. ie where the details of your last trip and mileage are reset to zero. Not sure on this but apparently that requires VAGCOM. So leave it out all night and it rains in the first hour or so no worries but if it rains after several hours then the sunroof will not close.

It will only close once automatically each time the car is locked/unlocked so you can leave it out all night and if it rains it will close the windows/sunroof. It has nothing to do with the trip/mileage reset time.

From what I know the rain/auto closing feature shuts everything after 24 hours.

I leave a window open on my Octavia (in my garage) and it stays open for days if I don't drive it. I have auto-close if rain set, and Octys have the same electrics as Golfs.

Yes, my sunroof often stays open for days on end in the garage, until i found a spider hanging from the interior mirror one day, now i close it.

Auto closing is great, but as has been hinted it doesnt work for opening the sunroof, only the windows can be opened from the remote.

Many have tried.... Sunroof can only be closed , not opened. An option IS in VCDS but it doesnt do anything.

My windows and roof can now be shut with one button press automatically from key fob too.

Rain sensing closes my windows and roof if it rains but Ive never left it 24hrs to see what happens then. I read on Vortex that it does

Maverick, do you still maintain that Golfs allow the sunroof to be opened with the remote control (as your post on after-market leather and sunroofs implies)? See:

Does anyone know how one can have the auto closing when raining activated?

                    Rain Closing

You will need a VCDS (VagCom) cable and software. (www.ross-tech.com)
Cables available from most vendors on here.
If someone reads this from Sydney with one maybe they will help
