Woo hoo!!! The boat with our 3dr GTI aboard from Germany stopped in at South Africa this week (no doubt to pick up those inferior built South African Golfs... j/k) and is now sailing to Australia. On a countdown now...

Ask the dealer if you can have the VIN, they should have it on record, and punch it into that site that minigolf mentioned back up. Makes it more interesting to see where it is!

I'm itching to get the VIN, rang the dealer again today, apparently there is still a chance that I may get one thats already in Aus. Starting to get the feeling that I was being given the ring around so I kindly reminded him about the fact that my dad is in the market for an R32 for my old gal, and a polo GTI for my little bro...

Hopefully that will refresh his motivation, he seemed to spark up a bit..

Our GTI arrived on the 11th in Brisbane, hasn't come out of customs/compliancing yet... Should expect to see it in a week or so though...

Woo hoo!!! Our GTI arrived at the dealership on Thursday. Went up today to have an appraisal done, and also to have a look at the GTI - it looks absolutely brilliant!!! We'll be taking delivery next Saturday... can't wait!

Mine was meant to be delivered on Friday, the stealer said he'd ring me but I haven't heard yet... He said I'd get it this Friday coming at the latest...

I've even organised to have a couple of days off...

Can't wipe the big smile off my face!!! Our Shadow Blue 3 door GTI (with DSG and Bi-xenons) was delivered today, and it's absolutely friggin' brilliant!!! Far superior German build quality blows away the Sith Efriken 5 door GTIs. And wouldn't you know it, it's attracting plenty of attention already! An R32 comes flying up behind me late this arvo just as I pull into the Toyota dealership I work for, and he gave the V6 a blast as he went past!

The best thing was seeing the look on the wife's face when I pulled up to pick her up from work this arvo - she didn't know I was taking delivery of her new car today! Now to work out what personalised plates to put on...

GTI , R32 or not, but I will not forget picking mine up either.
It is that warm fuzzy feeling you get and looks of envy as you drive out of dealers showroom and then you say to yourself " I got one " not " I just want one"

Hey all,
im a newbie to the forum and have enjoyed reading about everything GTI from u all. im also in the very anxious process of my car arriving. I ordered it 2 weeks ago and was told it would arrive at the end of July. My mate works at Barlo VW on the neapean hwy and was able to hook me up with a great deal.

Can anyone give me any good tips on what to do while i wait for my GTI to arrive??? im starting to go crazy

also whats this about 5 door being built in S.A and 3 door in germany? i was told there all built in S.A.
