  • "Free" scheduled servicing

    HI Guys

Newbie here, picked up jetta turbo last month and have absolutely loved it. Been in the VW family for many years now and I do have to say it was sad to let my VR6 go, but at least got something worthwhile.

Anyway reason for post is with all these threads on dealer servicing going on, the dealer I bought from happened to be doing a deal that included 3 years scheduled servicing. I didn't use that to barging with but it was "thrown in". What exactly does this entail / include?

    Thanks
    Jason

If this offer includes regular standard servicing costs your not going to be very popular around here.

If it includes labour and materials you have saved yourself quite a few $$$.

You get 3 oil changes, and a brake fluid change at the 2 year mark, assuming you do the "average" 15,000k per year.

Cost to the dealer about $200 in materials, or about $1000 in lost revenue.

Benefit to you say $1000, so toss that into the mix of what you paid for the car

Cost to the dealer will be more like $400 in materials and a heap in labour!

Landrover do this as well, its inclusive of labour and materials. My best mate just got rid of his TDV6 HSE and never paid a cent for servicing. Nice if you can get it!

Problem only being if you move location and that dealer is not close for the work any more. I prefer discount up front - but hey if it is free, I would not be complaining...

There's a Volkswagen deal to ABN holders and corporate fleet discount sales with 3 years/45K servicing for free so it will be Australia wide in that case.

Excludes Golf Mark 6, Passat CC and Tiguan.

Thanks guys. Sales guy was not too impressed at the time. I had got a price that I was happy with and he was out getting trade in valued with me reading the paper inside. Staring back at me was a full page ad from the said dealership offering the 3 years free scheduled servicing that weekend. He came back gave me again a good trade in, and then showed him the ad. You could see the look of horror on his face.

I signed up for a Pirelli before that advert appeared. Looks like you won't get this if you bought the car under another offer, which is the "drive-away deal". Can anyone confirm this? If so I'll be asking for it as my car is not registered and won't be delivered until it arrives in June.

There were no restrictions when I bought a month ago as I got a drive away price as all the extra charges were covered by VW not the dealership, while the scheduled servicing is covered by them under a separate offer.

Worth about $1200 to you, $500 to them. Fine print i believe excludes "Corporate buyers". Either way most will pay for it in the deal somewhere. I chose it off up front and choice to service where i want.
