Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Underseat drawers MkV Golf

Anyone installed the under seat drawers in a MkV Golf GTI yet? Do you have to remove the seats or basically just an easy addon without requiring any removal of parts?

Also can the passenger side drawer fit in the Golf GTI with the OEM Amp under that seat?

Can’t help you with the first part of your question. Are you referring to the under seat drawer for the passenger? If so, then yes it should fit. I’ve got a MkV Jetta and my GPS system is installed under the passenger seat and still have plenty of room.

Other members report that the passenger side drawer will clear the amp.

I have both sides fitted to my GT. It was a pretty straight forward install (directions are available all over the place).

One suggestion is that you don't physically remove the seats from the car - it's a PIA, you could end up scratching your doors &c, and requires the disconnection of your airbags. I unbolted the 4 fixings and leant the seat backwards, leaving the harness for the airbag connected - much simpler.

Tools required are few: Phillips Head screw driver, riveter, and a Triple Square/Splined 10mm socket. Should take <20 mins per side.

There's a good DIY page here:
Tools Required: 10mm Triple Square Socket (can be found on ZDMAK.com) Rivet Gun T-20 Torx Cordless Screwdriver with ability to attached torx bit with extension (recommended) Parts Required: Seat Drawer Kit 5 pcs. T-20 Torx screws (included with kit) Bracket (included with kit) 2 pcs. pop...

      Good luck.

        beat me to it barney.
The above is a good walkthrough on whats involved.
I have them in my car and there are no fitment issues with the OEM amp under the passenger seat.

Installation is pretty easy. As suggested above you just need to undo the 4 triple square bolts holding in the seat and then tilt it backwards to work on the under side of it. Just be careful not to put strain on the wiring attached to the seat and youre fine.

I have all the tools required. If you need a hand fitting them im happy to drink beer and laugh at you whilst I watch you do it one weekend.

Anyone know where you can get the "triple square" tools for a good price - have done some google searches without much success?

Are these drawers any good?. They look so small, hardly fit anything in them.

What about the quality, or is it just more rattles to put up with.

How much are the underseat drawers cost? I presume you'd have to get them from the dealers?

Dubaddiction has them, cheaper than the dealer (who only sell the passenger side one from memory in Australia) and a heap cheaper than tmtuning where I purchased mine from.
