  • Tailgate lighting upgrade

for tailgate: (1) I want to improve brightness of blinkers as many drivers behind don't see them - I'm considering bright LED clusters and (2) I'm contemplating replacement of rear fog light with the second reverse light - not 100% convinced yet. Has anybody done or considered those mods?

I just put new LED tails in mine but they still utilise standard indicator, fog and reverse bulbs so interested if this can be done too.

As far as I know, getting rid of rear fog may cause ADR compliance issues down the track. Personally, I'd prefer twin reverse lights as well. How often do us Aussies need to use rear fogs? 2 months max a year for southern staters?
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

Obvioulsy all the time with some of the knobs out there driving around with their blinding rear fog permanantly on.

Youre right though, we rarely need them.

That's why we need them! To blind tail gater's when they get too close.

Hmm, maybe I'll take the red lens out just to add a "oh crud, he's reversing" factor at the lights as well

My rear Indicators seem OK to me. What issues are you having exactly?

I doubt you'd run into any problems seeing as it's not a legal requirement and it's a tiny of fraction that actually have them (Mitsu's and Nissans are only starting now...) But I reckon it's a top safety feature to have. Both to blind tailgaters and for visibility in crap conditions.

It has something to do with sun glare in the morning as very often somebody behind can't see my blinkers and you have a lucky feeling that they didn't end up in your rear end... seriously they are not very good especially if your brakes light are on. I was driving behind new Fiat Punto today it has the same issue

If the people behind can't see the blinkers when it's an incandescent globe they're not going to see LED's and perhaps they need to get glasses, learn to drive better or you need to indicate earlier (or all three).

The Mark V tail lights are some of the better ones that I've seen on cars, they're very bright and easy to see with their high mounting. And add on that side indicator which you can see from behind (two bright LED's on the side).
