60k service & DSG performance

Hi all,

Had the tdi serviced last week by Nepean at Penrith, 60k with the dsg service. The guys did a great job as usual & the car came back washed & vacuumed, all good.

The main reason for the post is the performance of the dsg after the service. I followed my wife home to Richmond & when she jumped out said the car was fantastic, really nice to drive, the steering was light with no vibration & that the gear box was silky smooth, she was very happy. Now this is an important point.......My wife's normal response should have been..." It's ok, drives like a golf, like it always does....

So thinking to myself what could the guys have done to change the car so much that Bronwyn noticed. I jumped in & took it for a blast...

Steering: Wheel alignment & tyre rotation, these are the original tyres & they're just about had it. But the alignment & rotation has made a big difference in feel.

Smoke There is a definite reduction in the amount of smoke when you give it to it, probably a good thing?

DSG: Now I remember why I luv my dsg!!!! It is silky smooth again. It's amazing how over time you don't notice little changes in the way some components are performing until they are serviced or replaced!

Anyway, after a 60K service all is very good.

Now I just need to convince the company finance manager that I need a set of 18's to be covered by my lease! I figure it's worth a shot, the car needs new tyres anyway....

60k service is plugs,fuel filter,airfilter,oil and filter,ac filter so it would be more responsive. some places are doing free wheel alignments at dealerships so that could be it really not pulling to the side and she is happy

do diesels have spark plugs? I thought dealer changes plugs at 90k?

glow plugs my mistake i havent seen a diesel in a while..

and in that case bc its a diesel 90k would be the correct

There was a thread about the service intervals & costs not long ago., but I'm interested in how much you were charged.

Willam, Glow plugs don't need to be changed when a diesel is serviced.

Spark plugs on petrol engine's are changed at 60k always!

I think if you had access to the computer software version, they would have also 'upgraded' your program with newer version and probably better settings, which work more harmoniously with one another.

No doubt, wheel alignment, tranny oil and filter, engine oil and filter all aids in the 'liveliness' of the vehicle, but I think you might have had a 'computer software upgrade' unbeknownst to you....

Thanks for your efforts James, the car is really nice to drive post service. Sorry I missed you when we picked it up, when we pulled in your Cordy/polo was still there but you must have walked past while I was at the desk.
