Mine's not mounted either, I just hold it up against the windscreen whenever i go through one of the tolls, and the times that I have forgot to hold it, never have received a toll evasion letter in the mail either.

You wouldn't because they have your details in the system.. So they'd probably deduct the amount from your account. (That's how it works with Queensland Motorways)

Just for those with a Polo (not sure if other models have this), there's a storage compartment in the centre of the dash where i've placed my e-tag. The thing doesn't slide either because of the grippy piece of rubber in the compartment. Really handy as it saves me from attaching the e-tag clamp to my windscreen.

I'm sorry but saying the word "Polo" in a Mk5 Golf/Jetta forum is pretty much blasphemy and the last person who did... Well let's just say he can't anymore.

Especially given our car doesn't have that grippy rubber mat (which sounds awesome), it should result in a beheading.

Tempted to try that.... And we won't get a fine. Worse comes worse they'll take a pic and manually debit the account. We can simply say it didn't work.

Yeah I do the same. I don't like having it anywhere. I think they are ugly.

The reason why you haven't got a toll evasion is because your car is already registered to an e-tag and simply by not having it in the car or it not working properly means they just add a small extra surcharge to the toll you travel. I can't remember how much extra they told me but it was small..no more than a couple of dollars.

In Sydney they're not charging ANY extra for the tolls charged via picture, as long as you have your numberplate registered against your tag. At least that is the case for me with Roam Express (carried over from the old Express Tag)

queenslanders never use to be charged for the video/picture matching but once the "free flow tolling" kicks in we'll be charged 40c extra! Thiefs!

on topic, i just hold mine up, i also think they're an eyesore Why cant they make the transponders like Queensland Raceway record lap times with a little magnetic sticker?!
