Yup, mines hidden by mirror. Ive got City link tag one side (for work tag) and East link tag holder the other, (for my tag)

Both are never in car at the same time.

Mine is being held in place between the rain sensor and the mirror.
There is no need for the holder as it slides in there nice and securely

What kind of tag do you use in Canberra? I don't think that'd work with the old style E-Toll tags:

Mine is below and left of the rain sensor (completely hidden from the driver's view).

It looks very similar to that one, and we dont have any toll roads here

When I got my e-tag, the instructions told me to put it on the black dotted part as it represents the 'non-magnetic' part of the windscreen, which won't interfere with the e-tag operation.

I put it there, and I think its great, as it is not obstructing the view and it is very difficult to see from the outside.

I just got my Polo last week, so I'm yet to mount my eTag. Having said that, I painted it flat black and have 3M double-sided clear tape, so I can mount it anywhere and it blends in from both the inside and outside of the vehicle. But I usually mount my tags to the left side of the mirror so it's not visible by the driver, and hence not blocking any view out the front windscreen.

Yeah, that's where the latest owners manual suggests too. It can hardly be seen from outside the vehicle (or inside for that matter).

Just for those with a Polo (not sure if other models have this), there's a storage compartment in the centre of the dash where i've placed my e-tag. The thing doesn't slide either because of the grippy piece of rubber in the compartment. Really handy as it saves me from attaching the e-tag clamp to my windscreen.

So you hold it up to the windscreen everytime you go under a toll?

I thought about it... But then thought screw it, that's what the holder's for.

Thanks, I looked in the manual and could not find any reference to e-tag or equivalent. I think I will put it as high as possible to the left of the rear-view mirror right on the black dots.

I have heard that putting it on the black dots can be a problem but since some of you guys do it it must be ok on the Golfs.
